VARSITY.

I mentioned a few posts back that I had bought a varsity jacket. Suede sleeves and wool body, it has seamlessly fitted into my wardrobe. Since then I've started seeing varsity jackets everywhere. Whether it is Emma Watson's character in 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' or Topshop, I have come to the conclusion that once again I have influenced the entire fashion industry. It happened with gypsy skirts and then with bodices and circle skirts. It just seems that whenever I find a gem in a charity shop it is all over the high-street within a few months.

Here is my favourite interpretation of this look. I have been wearing it with high-waisted cropped All Saints trousers and a cropped navy shirt. I bought these trousers a few years back, but have been living in them the past few weeks. I wore them with my Docs (natch). I actually bought some new ones the other day, but sadly they were too small so my current pair cannot retire yet.

One of the comedy troupes in St Andrews (Blind Mirth- if you are in town check them out) have black and white varsity jackets. I personally love this idea as it makes a good change from gilets and hoodies. I love the idea of mixing a feminine outfit with a male piece. Here I teamed floaty hotpants with a loose t-shirt and brogues.
Not all varsity jackets have to be in leather or nylon. I've seen a few great denim numbers. Dark jeans with a paler jacket creates an interesting take on double denim. I love the complementary colours of orange and denim so here they are.

I hope you are all having a great week. I'm home for a few days before heading back to Scotland and am finally learning to drive!

PROCRASTINATION.

Once again I have spent an age getting round to writing a post. End of year exams, final deadlines and the occasional days of bright sunshine have meant that my drawing has been as an outlet and not so much to document my sartorial musings.

Here is two outfits that I have been wearing a lot recently...

I am currently living in these shorts. My sister picked them up from H&M a few years back and I just love them. They are very short and floaty, so almost look like a skirt. They also have pockets, so what more could a girl want! I like to counteract them with my Docs, which I am still wearing despite the broken sole... The top is a cream Benetton rugby shirt donated from the Grandmother. It's unbuttons quite far. I am not complaining about that...

I wore this outfit a few weeks back. I threw it on because I fancied something a bit more feminine than my usual Docs and shorts. There were some pretty good reactions from -'This. I like this.' to 'Wow, you actually scrub up quite nicely.' I may have drawn a similar outfit before, but I like it. So oh well. It's a green merino wool jumper, cropped denim jacket with studded collar, a burnt orange calf-length pencil skirt and heeled boots. I am also obsessed with ponytails at the moment. Until it is too windy and it hits me in the face.

Because I have been drawing a lot recently here are a few of my instagram sketches...

This is based on the photo of the Afghan girl with green eyes...

I hope you are having a great week and, if you have exams, best of luck! And enjoy the sunshine!
